Are God and Chance the only two choices for how things began?

the Membrane theory of the beginning of our universe seems to me at least, the way to go at this point. I say OUR universe because theory would indicate that there are countless alternate universes. There just may be no beginning and no end to it all, even if OUR universe ends there are always others.
